Opening of the Museum Libération de Paris

On the occasion of the 75th anniversary of the Liberation of Paris the new Museum Libération de Paris will open to the public from August 27

Paris

On the occasion of the 75th anniversary of "Libération de Paris" the new Museum Libération de Paris - Museum of General Leclerc - Jean Moulin Museum will be officially inaugurated on August 25, 2019 Place Denfert-Rochereau and will open to the public from August 27, 2019. A new museum in the heart of the capital. After having been installed for twenty-four years above the Montparnasse station, the City of Paris decided to move the museum to the heart of the capital, in the pavilions designed by Claude-Nicolas Ledoux of the Denfert-Rochereau square. A new place that has a dual role in the history of the period: August 25, 1944 is the place that passes through General Leclerc to liberate Paris, while for some days now, the basement of the pavilion houses the PC of Colonel Rol-Tanguy, Chief of the French Interior Forces (FFI) of Île-de-France. This historic site will be open for the first time to the public. Completely restored, it will offer an unprecedented visitor experience, thanks to innovative mediation tools. More than 300 objects, original documents and photographs, as well as archival videos and testimonies will be presented to the public. From the interwar period to the Resistance, from the countryside of Africa to the beaches of Normandy until the Liberation of Paris, Jean Moulin and Philippe de Hauteclocque, alias Leclerc, guided the visitor.
Address: 4 avenue du Général Rol Tanguy, Place Denfert Rochereau 75014
